Western Kentucky Mining Institute May 24, 2007 Bluegrass Mine's rescue team fared extremely well in the latest contest held on May 24, 2007 in Western Kentucky. They took 2nd place overall and 1st in the state. OMSL Executive Director Johnny Greene (left) presented the award to Captain David Self. Warrior Coal Company's team garnered 1st place in the Combination Mine Rescue First Aid, 1st place in First Aid and 3rd place in Mine Rescue. Former OMSL employee, Jim "Tenno" Herran (left) received the Man of the Year award from WKMI President Chris Williams. Danny Hendrix (right) of KenAmerican Resources won 1st place in the Pre-shift contest. Scott Milligan (right) with Highland Mining Co. won 1st place in the Bio-marine bench contest.
