To facilitate the mine inspection duties of the Office, the coal fields have been divided into six inspection districts. A mine rescue station, which serves as the district office, is centrally located in each of the following districts: Barbourville, Harlan, Hazard, Madisonville, Martin and Pikeville.

From I-64, take exit 58 (Frankfort/Versailles) and turn north toward Frankfort on US 60. Travel one-half mile and turn right at the large blue sign which reads, "Capital Complex East." The sign and entrance are located immediately behind Jett-Town Plaza. The Office of Mine Safety and Licensing is located at 1025 Capital Center Drive with offices on all three floors of the left wing of the building.
