The annual report totals for the number of inspections for the years 2000, 2001 and 2002 reflect individual inspectors on-site. For example, mines that are below the water table require two inspectors on a single inspection. In the years 2000 - 2002, these instances were counted as two inspections instead of one. The correct number of inspections performed is as follows:

 2000 - 1,048
 2001 - 1,584
 2002 - 2,066

Please call the Division of Safety Inspection and Licensing (502) 573-0140 with any questions about the annual reports.

Historic Annual Reports

Google has scanned the historic annual reports from the archives of the New York Public Library. There are some missing years, but the available information is a great resource for anyone interested in Kentucky's mining history.
